Global Supply Chain Manager — executive search and advisory

Role Filled:

One person carrying an entire global supply chain, with the business growing fast around them.

A senior leader with the capacity to focus on optimisation and growth

The Challenge:

The Outcome:

Rockit is a Hawke's Bay horticulture and food export business. As it grew, its global supply chain had been carried largely by one person handling everything, and the demands of that had well outgrown what any individual could sustain. The business set out to build a proper supply chain function around dedicated roles: one focused on New Zealand, one on China, a procurement specialist, and this role covering every other market.

Background:

This was a role created for capacity and capability, not simply to fill a gap. A significant part of Rockit's profitability depends on the cost and quality of getting its product to market, so the appointment mattered. The business needed someone senior enough to lead a team through change and think strategically about how to create value and do things better, while building a supply chain function that could support continued growth in New Zealand and globally.

Understanding The Challenge

The role reported to the Head of Operations and required genuine international supply chain experience across diverse, region-by-region export models. That depth is not readily available in Hawke's Bay, so relocation was a likely part of any successful outcome. Rather than treat that as an obstacle, we built it into the search from the outset, looking for the right experience wherever it sat and prepared to support a move.

The Brief

What They Achieved

We identified the right candidate and supported their relocation to the region. Rockit now has a senior leader with the capacity to focus on optimisation and growth, building a future-proof supply chain function and leading a team, rather than being consumed by day-to-day tasks. The result is a business better equipped to support its ambitions both in New Zealand and internationally.
